Group seeks ideas for ministry with people with disabilities

“Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?” So the church asks of those seeking baptism, and the baptismal candidates respond, “I will with God’s help.” Tom Holmes of Trinity, Mobile, is seeking to form a group to examine ways to apply this teaching specifically to persons with disabilities.

Does your parish or church have a ministry for people with disabilities and/or their family members? If so, what type of ministries are offered, and how many people with what types of disabilities are served? Does your parish or church have members with disabilities or others interested in serving on an advisory group to develop a proposal for diocesan ministry for people with disabilities and their families? If so, please send suggestions and responses to Tom Holmes at tbholmes@comcast.net or 251-287-6828.
