South Baldwin “Drops in the Bucket” raise $7,880 for Episcopal Relief and Development

For Lent this year, three parishes in South Baldwin County - Holy Spirit, Gulf Shores; St. Paul's, Foley; and St. Peter's, Bon Secour - collaborated on a project to raise money for Episcopal Relief and Development's "Gifts for Life." The goal was to purchase a well (the cost of which was $5,000) to "help heal a hurting world." The campaign included the opportunity for individuals and groups to purchase "Drops in the Bucket" at $50 per drop to help fill the well. Mite boxes in the form of water bottles were provided to children and adults to fill with coins.

The campaign concluded on Easter Day with the collection of the water bottles. The results were astounding. A total of $7,880 was contributed to ERD from all three parishes: $5,070 from Holy Spirit, $2,500 from St. Paul's, and $310 from St. Peter's. ERD will feature the South Baldwin campaign in their publications.

The three parishes will hold a Celebration of Success, Tuesday, May 24, at 6:00 pm at St. Paul's, Foley. The evening will include a covered dish supper, service of thanksgiving, and presentation of a ceremonial check to the bishop and Eugene Johnston, Diocesan ERD Coordinator. ERD representatives from each parish are deeply grateful to all who participated in this effort.
