"When we are living a Jesus-centered life, it overflows into evangelism." The Rev. Stephanie Spellers
On May 4, the Congregational Enrichment Venture team hosted over 100 people at St. Jude's in Niceville, for Discipleship Day which also happened to be the team's final session for their two year congregational training program. They invited the presiding bishop's canon for evangelism, the Rev. Stephanie Spellers to led us in a day of learning what Episcopal Evangelism is all about.
It is likely that each person who attended got something out of each activity - READ THIS REFLECTION from Mia Jerrems, a member of the diocesan Evangelism Task Force. Through brief one-on-one story sharing and an interactive group activity, the underlying takeaway of Spellers approach to effective evangelism is that by living a Jesus-center life, practicing the Way of Love, we all would find a way to live more fully in Jesus' loving presence and be able to share that love with people we encounter, and that they, in turn, would also live a Jesus-centered life. Spellers invited us to listen and connect with one another, and to see those connections as a blessing. Plus, Spellers blessed us with her beautiful singing voice, leading us in songs such as "Amazing Grace" and a bilingual version of "This Little Light of Mine."
The Rev. Dr. Margaret Shepard says, "What a wonderful and inspiring finale to two years of Congregational Enrichment Venture. The Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers reminded us that we are not called to be "Church-ians, we are called to be "Christ-ians!" Shepard also adds, "Thank you to the [Congregational Enrichment Venture Task Force] and all the wonderful work you have done."
