For the readings of Mark 7-9:13, Bishop Russell notes and addresses two recurring themes presented thus far by pointing out the irony between how the disciples seem to be confused about why they are following Jesus, and the repeated refrain of keeping secret the good news that is experienced and encountered in Jesus. We are given a couple of ways to interpret these themes so that we might understand the point being made by Mark.
Additionally, rather than posing questions to consider for further reflection, Bishop Russell offers another type of invitation for us this week.
