Hey everyone!
My name is Meghan Johnson and Bishop Russell has invited me to be the youth coordinator for the diocese. I’m so honored to have this opportunity to give back to the youth program and incredibly excited for what the future holds! I hope that by stepping into this role, I can gain new relationships with not only the youth, but as well as the adults. By working hand in hand with all generations, I will be able to organize events that will nurture the connections of our young people with one another and with their church. Revitalizing Happening post-pandemic will also be a major part of my ministry.
This position is so special to my heart because I grew up at St. Christopher’s in Pensacola, Florida. I was a part of the youth program for as long as I can remember. When my older brother was in middle school, he went to EYC and I was always the little sister that just wanted to do everything with her big bro. I would watch as he went to youth group every Wednesday night, patiently waiting to go back the following week. As soon as I was old enough, I joined and made lifelong friends and memories. Mission trips, Night of Joy (youth from all over the country going to Disney for worship), lock-ins, and Wednesday bible studies were the jump start of my undoubting relationship with the Lord. In the two years I spent at college, I was a part of a ministry of young adults that focused on outreach. Being a part of this group of like-minded individuals brought me to a place in my relationship with God where I knew that I would always live my life for Christ. I’ve always felt a pull at my heart when it comes to giving back to my community and working with younger kids and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to do just that. I’m so excited to serve the Central Gulf Coast and can’t wait to grow relationships with all of you!
With love,
Meghan Johnson
